Castello Banfi
Deep red color, with a garnet hue. The aromas are very complex, with hints of plum jam, tobacco, and a note of licorice. Characterized by a powerful but soft structure, on the palate it is full and harmonious, with a very persistent finish. A Brunello di Montalcino ideal for a long aging.

Lots of sandalwood, with blueberry and blackberry aromas and hints of dried flowers. Cola too. Full body, with fine tannins and a long caressing finish. It's so integrated and refined. The tannins are finely knit. Benchmark for the style and excellence of the vintage. Best after 2013.

Castello Banfi's 2006 Brunello opens with smooth and soft cherry flavors and is packed tight with background aromatics that include tobacco, cola, leather and more dark fruit. The wine's texture is silky, crisp and long-lasting.

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is a beautiful wine laced with red berries, flowers and subtle hints of earthiness. Soft and supple throughout, the Brunello shows lovely juiciness in its fruit and a delicate, understated personality. The 2006 represents yet another step in the more elegant, refined direction the estate has taken in recent years. The 2006 Brunello was aged in equal parts cask and French oak barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020.

Smooth and round, this red offers cherry, bitter almond, spice and woodsy notes. The tannins are dense, but this is balanced overall and lingers on the finish. Best from 2013 through 2022. 45,830 cases made.

Certified organic vineyards must meet Demeter"s additional criteria for a period of one year before earning the designation "biodynamic."
Sustainably Grown
Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

Wine Spectator is a lifestyle magazine that focuses on wine and wine culture. It publishes 15 issues per year with content that includes news, articles, profiles, and general entertainment pieces. I rate wines using the 100-points scale. I have used this point system for close to 25 years. I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
